What to compare
Record whether the product is an OTC CFD, a futures contract, an exchange-traded security or allocated metal. A gold CFD normally gives contractual price exposure; a familiar XAU/USD label does not establish ownership or delivery rights.
Limits of the published information
Obtain ounces per lot, minimum size, price increment, margin and overnight terms. Some platforms use different symbol suffixes or contracts. A gold risk calculator must use the actual ounces per lot rather than a forex pip assumption.
If a hypothetical gold contract contains 100 ounces per lot, 0.02 lots represents two ounces of price exposure. A USD 10-per-ounce move changes the position value by USD 20 before costs. A different contract size changes the result proportionally.
Record contract size, minimum lot and price increment together. Then distinguish a CFD from physical or allocated gold. Identical-looking charts do not establish equal ownership rights, storage terms or financing. The linked calculator lets you replace the illustrative contract size.
